Our family won a free weekend in a cabin up in the Sonoma County redwoods. (Recommended: buy raffle tickets for your church youth group fundraiser!) Carrying a 20-lb baby was something of an impediment to our hiking, but we did manage to enjoy the forest and some winetasting nearby. Rose didn't exactly love sleeping in an unfamiliar bed, but her parents' perseverance paid off, and once Rosie was asleep, we enjoyed some newly discovered wine with our s'mores over a roaring fire. Rosie seems to love nature, staring wide-eyed at the trees and excitedly turning to hear the birdsongs. We'll have to bring her back often.
