Rose is 17 months old! She is over 27 lbs. and still towers over most of her friends at 33 inches tall. Her latest words include " 'way!" (when she wants to put something away she's finished with), "bunny," "sun," and something that sounds passably like "elephant." Some new Chinese words (at least the new ones we're aware of) include the words for tree, shoe and sock. Her current favorite food is blueberries, and she has 8 teeth plus 4 half-emerged molars. Best of all, she's much more interested in her dad holding her-- it's not all mom, all the time.
Rose is increasingly interested in what the grown-ups are doing. She is fighting the highchair more and more, preferring to sit in a real chair. (Picture us attempting to get an almost 30 lb girl into any kind of restraints while she's arching her back.)
She loves to "brush" her own teeth and hair (toothbrush and hairbrush apparently interchangeable) and play at the sink (or water fountain, or any water source).
