Rose's first birthday party

We celebrated Rose's first birthday a day early.  Here's a video of everyone singing "happy birthday," Rose blowing out her candle (with a little help), and Mom and Dad's extensive efforts to get Rose to make a mess of her cake:

We had two cakes: (1) A full-size cake with a picture of one of Rose's favorites--our cat, Rusty; and (2) a baby-size cake for Rose to make a mess of.

Rose kept reaching for every balloon she saw:

As she becomes better at walking, Rose favors portable foods, like bagels.

 

After the messy cake eating, Rose--free of her dress and leggings--was thrilled to push her toy around the courtyard.
